MORE POWER: MPI's YXZ1000R Turbo Kits

Porting over their 14 years of experience building OEM Turbo kits for Yamaha's Triple powered snowmobiles, Mountain Performance is the first to offer a Turbo kit for the new YXZ1000R.

$3,995 nets you the Mitsubishi turbo, American made bar and plate Intercooler, Donaldson air filter, electronic fuel controller, electronic boost and altitude compensation controller, muffler and all assorted hardware. The intercooler bolts straight to the throttle bodies, no fabrication needed. Competent hands should be able to get the job done within a couple hours.

MPI claims that the triple will make north of 150 hp with a meagre 5 psi of boost, giving the YXZ an advantage over competitive machines demanding higher levels of force fed air.

Initially MPI will offer the single kit capable of making 155 hp in the desert on pump gas. Eventually they will offer three upgrade Stages. Stage 1 bumping you to 190 hp, Stage 2 kit capable of 240 hp and Stage 3 takes you to the moon with 300+ ponies on tap. That may sound obscene from a 1.0L triple but these boys have made Yamaha's triple their day to day obsession since 2005.

The YXZ 155HP TurboCharger Kit will be available from September 30th, 2015. Upgrade stages to follow shortly.

As nice as that sounds, I still think the YXZ already sounds amazing with the stock muffler.

300+ hp?! That would be pretty crazy. I'm not sure I want or need that, but I'd certainly be interested to see that in action. Certainly isn't cheap either. Awesome that there is already after market options for mods though. I take that as a very good sign.

And the Genesis 120 already has forged pistons and rods!!! have heard it will need a head shim if you want to run pump as though... but that might be once we get into the higher stages...
